Googles: “learn web development” Typical result: “Course includes: JavaScript, Node.JS, SQL, Express.JS, React, TDD and more…”
TL:DR;
Don’t jump straight into a JS Framework. If you are new to web development or a seasoned developer looking to solve a problem, ask if a JS framework is necessary, or can a more basic implementation be successful?
Thoughts
-
Why are new developers being forced down the rabbit hole of Node, React and SQL etc?
-
Why would we not start at HTML and CSS? Surely getting a solid understanding of the basics would be better suited? After HTML and CSS, we can then guide developers into Javascript.
-
Is this sort of advice powered by Google algorithms?
-
What is being taught in schools, colleges, bootcamps etc?
-
Do new developers ever come across the developer roadmap?
